February is Cancer Prevention Month—a time to pause, share information, and support one another.
While not all cancers can be prevented, research continues to show that everyday choices can help reduce risk and support long-term health. Staying up to date on recommended screenings, moving your body in ways that feel right for you, eating well, avoiding tobacco, limiting alcohol, and protecting your skin are all meaningful steps—taken at your own pace and in ways that fit your life.

Local Resources
Whether you’re focused on prevention, screening, or survivorship care, here are a few local resources that may be helpful:
MobileMammo NW – The South Sound’s first dedicated mobile mammography program, debuting this summer. Founded by the TRA Medical Imaging Foundation and operated by TRA Medical Imaging, MobileMammo NW is designed to expand access to breast cancer screening in rural and underserved communities.
Carol Milgard Breast Center – Providing exceptional breast imaging services and resources to individuals across our region. South Sound CARE Foundation is proud to support the Center’s annual Mammograms Save Lives Luncheon, which helps provide access to mammography services for uninsured and underserved individuals.
LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA – A free, evidence-based 12-week program for adults living with or beyond cancer treatment and their caregivers, focused on rebuilding strength, balance, flexibility, and connection in a supportive setting. We’ll be sharing more about this program later this month.
