Phase 3 Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST)

The South Sound CARE Foundation is honored to begin 2026 by announcing the opening of a new Phase 3 clinical trial for Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST) here in Tacoma.

This study is exploring a new treatment approach for adults with GIST whose cancer has spread or cannot be surgically removed and who have previously received treatment. The goal is to better understand how this approach may support patient care while ensuring safety for those who participate. The study began in early December 2025 and includes approximately 450 participants worldwide.

We’re proud to serve as the sole West Coast site for this trial, bringing an important research opportunity directly to our local community.

If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with GIST that is metastatic and/or surgically unresectable and may be interested in learning more, we encourage you to reach out.

We’re grateful for your continued support as we work to expand access to clinical trials that offer hope, options, and the possibility of new pathways forward for patients in our region.
