After attending medical school at State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine, Buffalo, NY, Dr. Njuguna completed his internship and residency at University of Illinois at Chicago. Once completed, Dr. Njuguna moved on to his Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health/National Cancer Institute in Rockville, Maryland. Dr. Njuguna is also board certified in Oncology.


During Dr. Njuguna’s Fellowship at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), he began conducting research into the development of new drug therapies for Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL), a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow. His research focused on complications of current drug therapies used to treat CLL, and their cause. Several of his research findings have been presented at the annual meeting of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) and published in its medical journal, Blood.


Dr. Njuguna has continued his work in treating patients with lymphoma and chronic leukemia. He is currently involved in several clinical trials regarding CLL and Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
