Early Detection Saves Lives

Community Spotlight: Mobile Mammo Northwest

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re proud to spotlight South Sound CARE Foundation Board President Mary Byrne and her incredible work with MobileMammo NW—a new TRA Medical Imaging Foundation initiative bringing 3D mammography to rural and underserved communities across the South Sound.

“Mammograms aren’t just a ‘nice to have’ anymore. They’re a necessity.”

Mary Byrne

While 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, many still face barriers to screening—whether it’s travel distance, cost, or time away from work. Launching in Summer 2026, this state-of-the-art mobile coach will help remove those barriers by delivering mammograms directly to neighborhoods, workplaces, and community events.

It’s inspiring to see our community come together to expand access to care—including Harnish Auto, who are donating $25 per test drive and $1 per service hour across all five locations throughout October to support MobileMammo NW.

A Gentle Reminder

Early detection saves lives. If you’re 40 or older—or have a family history of breast cancer—talk with your doctor about when to begin screening and how often to schedule a mammogram.

Find screening guidelines, resources, and local providers through the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Thank you for taking good care,

South Sound CARE Foundation
