What’s It Like To Be On The “Other Side” Of Cancer?

Georgia joined CARE’s Feline Breast Cancer Study in 2018. The trial that Georgia participated in introduced a unique drug combination prior to surgery for breast cancer patients with ER-positive, HER2-negative early breast cancer. Typically, patients directly go to surgery.

After enrolling in this trial, Georgia immediately bonded with Jodi, her CARE Research Coordinator. "You just come in and it's warmth. You feel good…you have to trust somebody, and I feel like I’ve trusted the right people,” said Georgia.

In addition to making a new friend, Georgia also had the outcome we always hope for—the drug combination shrunk her tumor by two-thirds prior to surgery!

Today, Georgia is cancer-free, retired, and living with family in Hawaii. Jodi and Georgia are still in touch. Jodi recently went to visit Georgia in Hawaii and spend time on the beach together.

Thank you for partnering with us to help people like Georgia. No one should fight cancer alone.
